Agriculture has a profound impact on the socio-economic landscape of Bangladesh as close to 50 percent of Bangladesh’s population is primarily employed in agriculture, with more than 70 percent of its land dedicated to growing crops. Because of pragmatic policies and efforts, the agriculture sector has portrayed some remarkable achievements since the independence of the country. Now this particular sector is facing some critical challenges such as climate change, increasing population, rapid industrialization etc. to continue its success and to meet the growing demands of a densely populated country. We mainly focus on the empowerment of farmers through technological intervention and the dissemination of appropriate information.
Goals
- To ease access to technologies to transform the agriculture sector
- To bridge the gap between farmers and banks
- To promote modern agricultural practices among farmers
- To develop the right awareness among different target groups
Project 1: Accelerating use of agri technologies by utilizing ICT
The agriculture sector in Bangladesh needs appropriate technologies to increase yield, cut production costs, save the environment, and predict natural phenomena. We are working on a digital platform that will help farmers come across current technologies to transform their farming activities. Besides, through this platform they will get loans to buy any solution and will get the right training to apply technology in their domains.
Project 2: Tech-aided financial literacy for farmers
Farmers must have the appropriate knowledge to get and utilize funds to enhance their farming activities. In Bangladesh, due to different constraints, it is quite difficult for farmers to get the right knowledge about bank loans and its effective utilization to produce crops or run agribusinesses. To deal with this challenge we will launch both web and mobile applications for farmers that will help them acquire proper knowledge through physical and virtual processes. Besides, farmers can directly apply for loans through these digital platforms.
Project 3: Banglar Krishi Utshab
It is a mega event for farmers that helps them understand modern agricultural practices very deeply. Besides, this particular event will also act as a potential platform for banks, agri enterprises, and others to demonstrate appropriate products and services to facilitate the growth of the agriculture sector.
