The growth of the population has emerged as a potential scope for economic development. The total population now is 16.98 crore and 27.96 percent of them are aged between 15-29 years. Bangladesh’s youth population has increased by 15.81 percent to 4.59 crore in the last decade, as per the recent census. We have to turn this huge population into a resource by providing them with the right opportunity for skill development. It is evident that skill-based education has a profound impact on reducing the unemployment rate but it is a critical task to ensure appropriate facilities for target groups due to both financial and resource constraints. We are trying to turn people into resources by creating scopes for skill development, knowledge sharing, and access to finance.
Goals
• To provide skill development scopes for the people in rural and remote areas
• To bridge the gap between academia and industry
• To promote financial inclusion through education
• To develop proper awareness among target groups
Project 1: Ensuring open access to skill development programs
By utilizing ICT we will create skill development opportunities for the people living in rural and remote areas of the country. Through a dedicated online platform, we will provide both online and offline training through partner organizations. It will ease the process to avail better scopes at affordable cost.
Project 2: Facilitating student banking through ICT
We are working on an online platform that will quite easily bring students under the banking system. Through this system, students can open their bank account with our affiliated banks, apply for loans, and avail of different insurance schemes as well. Besides, students will get scholarship information and other enjoy other facilities essential for them to study abroad.
Project 3: Leadership Series 2024
Each year Bangladesh produces a huge number of graduates through its public and private universities but only a fraction of them secure the right employment opportunities. As a result, the time has come to focus on skilled-based education so that different industries will get appropriate workforce based on their needs. SID under its education project is going to unveil an initiative called ‘Leadership Series’ to bridge the gap between university and industry.
